Why do some controls feel more responsive than others?

Some controls like the filters or disturbance are intentionally dramatic, while others like variance or envelope squeeze are more subtle by nature.

The XY can also behave differently depending on the sound and texture. Some sounds have very little timbral difference between their transient and middle sections, making the X-axis changes harder to hear. Similarly, certain textures have more impact on darker sounds than brighter ones (for example, sustained noises are often more noticeable when layered over softer, less dense material).
